Top 10 worst environmental polluters in the world According to the latest research done by University of Adelaide's environment institute on the environmental pollution, Brazil leads the list as number one environmental polluter in the world. The nations were ranked as per various factors which included the use of fertilisers, deforestation, per capita carbon emission, water pollution, air pollution, marine captures, loss of habitat, threat to various species, emission of green house gases etc.

The list of top 10 worst environmental polluters is as follows according to their ranking:

  2. United States (US)
  3. China
  4. Indonesia
  5. Japan
  6. Mexico
  7. India
  8. Russia
  9. Australia
  10. Peru

Brazil tops the list as worst environmental polluter in the world followed by US, China, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, India, Russia, Australia and Peru. India has been ranked number 7 in the list of top 10 worst environmental polluters. Australia holds the number 9 rank in the list.
Singapore is the least polluter of environment as per the study followed by Qatar and Kuwait.

The recent study has proved that the high level of education, environment friendly technology and awareness among common people about green environment has not worked.

Professor Corey Bradshaw, University of Adelaide's environment institute said that the small countries were better in ranking. Environmental pollution has a direct proportionality with the wealth. The richer you are, more damage you will do to the environment. The growing economies pollutes the environment heavily.
