June 5 is the date selected for the celebration of World Environment Day (WED) 2010 with a new theme “Many species, One Planet, One Future”. World Environment Day spreads awareness among common people about the environment and to draw political attention towards the environmental issues. Under the theme 'Many Species, One Planet, One Future', World Environment Day 2010 will celebrate the incredible biodiversity of the life on planet Earth.
The very first World Environment Day was celebrated in 1973 with the theme of “Only one Earth” and after that every year it is celebrated with a new theme and is hosted by a new city. The World Environment Day 2010 will be globally hosted by Kigali city, Rwanda. Kigali city has been selected as global host for this event due to its exceptional biodiversity that has made huge strides on environmental protection.
Every year the World Environment Day is celebrated with a new theme. I am writing down here the themes of world environment day for the last 10 years.

Otherwise it will become an event of celebration only. Nations should collaborate and find out the ways to mitigate environmental issues likes global warning, climate change and natural disasters.
